Heads or Tails.

The world is a beautiful place, there’s a lot of great things that can be found here but at the same time, the world is a horrible place where many terrible things can be found.

You see, there are two sides to seeing the world just as how there’s two sides on a coin; heads and tails. When you flip a coin, you already know what value each side possesses and what it means to you.

When you look at the world you can see two sides of it all the time but whichever side you focus more attention on will surely have an affect on your being and how you see everything.

Worried to Exhaustion.

I really don’t see how some people could be worried or stay worried about everything when just being worried about one thing already feels exhausting to me. Whatever it is, whatever the problem may be; it just sticks out in your mind like a sliver when you worry. It wrenches your heart, it saps your energy and it floods your body with stress. It doesn’t feel good at all and I’m sure it’s not good for your body either but yet some of us can be hooked on being worried all the time.

Are we naturally self-destructive? Or is it because some of us have forgotten how to live without worry?

I don’t want to have to worry in order to live or get through my day, it’s just too exhausting, I’ve got better things to do than place my energy into these negative emotions.

Speak your mind.

What if we said what was exactly on our minds in a given moment for a day?

Say we’re part of a conversation and then something  someone says triggers off a comment in our heads for us to reply; sometimes we say it and sometimes we don’t. But what if we just spent a day doing that, saying exactly what was on our minds?

Now I don’t mean going out and being disrespectful towards other people by purposely saying mean and degrading things towards them (as they pop through your heads). But I mean, rather than talking yourself out of making a comment or saying something in a situation, why not just let it out?

You may surprise yourself at how much more fun a conversation really is like this.

A “Perfect World” is not Perfect.

If there was nothing wrong or nothing bad about the world, then would there be any good left in it?

I mean, what we know as being good and pure is due to comparing and contrasting it to something that was bad and tainted. This is why I believe that a perfect world would be very hard to achieve with that point of view. So if we do get to that point where everything is “perfect”, it would not be due to the absence of what is bad but rather we’ve learned to deal with the negatives so well that we focus more on the positives instead.

No we don’t learn to ignore what is bad or anything like that but rather we learn to have a more positive outlook on everything.

And that is what I believe is a Perfect World.

A Natural at Problem Solving

I remember back in elementary school and how we always had “Problem Solving” exercises but I was always the kid who absolutely hated them. I look back now though and it wasn’t the act of solving problems that I disliked but rather the fact that all “Problem Solving” questions were just Math questions.

I actually don’t mind solving problems even though I hated doing Problem Solving in school (and you may have as well) since we are all natural Problem Solvers when it comes to our own lives. Problem solving didn’t need to be taught to us in school as I believe we were already predisposed to solving them.

I think that most, if not all of us think about the Negatives or the Negative outcomes of a Problematic Situation before we even consider the notion of a Positive one. We think of what “the worst” could be so that we can motivate ourselves into doing the best we could  in order to ensure (to the best of our ability) that the final outcome is better that “the worst” we’ve thought of.

We then come up with different ways we could deal with the situation whether it be with our mindset or our actions in order to solve the problem and generate a favorable outcome.

We all do it. If you don’t have a job right now, the worst could be…. that you get evicted from your apartment or you starve to death or something worse, now that you know what could happen you try to solve this problem of being unemployed by applying for a job or jobs.

And if you’re hungry you go and eat because the problem is that you’re starving and the worst outcome is that you starve to death, so to solve it you go and eat.

As such, everyone Solves problems and is natural at it because every single day we are faced with things that we must deal with. We are natural Problem Solvers, especially when it deals with our own lives so maybe that’s why I wasn’t too good with problem solving questions at school. Either that, or I just didn’t think it was a problem.

Memories = Valuable + Imperfect.

I love keeping a journal because not only do I enjoy writing but I also enjoy looking back at the positive memories I’ve experienced. Aside from looking at how there’s a lot of things I should be happy about, it also serves to remind me about what has actually happened in the past.

You see, not everyone has perfect memory; we remember the big idea of what happened but very rarely are we able to recall the fine details that decided whether or not a memory was good or bad. So when I believe I’ve remembered something wrong or have second thoughts about what I experienced, I refer back to my journal and read what I recorded on that particular day.

Rereading those words and recalling those feelings helps me reinforce what has actually happened so that my mind doesn’t wander off and create “imaginative” yet “destructive” versions of valuable memories.  Our memories should help us, not destroy us.

So much has been given to me. I have no time to ponder that which has been denied.

Day 22: Change in the Last 2 Years.

A lot has happened in the last two years.

All the good and all the bad played their parts, if you want to know what they were this year, click here.

  • I’ve definitely become more open towards meeting new people and towards people in general.
  • I’ve become more happy about what I’ve accomplished, who I’ve met, what memories I’ll remember and how far I’ve come.
  • I’ve grown taller (strangely enough I’m still growing), I’m getting into better shape and I’ve done a lot of things that I enjoy.

Yes this is quite general; but honestly I don’t think you’re interested in reading a novel about my change on your dashboard, yet if you do, ask me otherwise we’ll just leave it at that ;).

haha well the thing with actualization is that it can be great but extremely horrible at the same time. It’s because if you can actualize any of your thoughts then pretty much all the negative thoughts that can cross your mind will become a reality and then you correct it by changing it to positive thoughts yet then you just become drawn into a ridiculous cycle since we’ll always have some negative thoughts and positive thoughts.

I guess that’s why we’re not allowed limitless power =(.

Comparing things.

You live in a world based on comparisons.

Without comparing two different things, tangible or intangible, you would not be able to discern which one is “better” in your opinion.

You would not be able to know whether or not something is “good” or “bad” if you’ve never experienced either of them. But because you have experienced them both, you are able to know which one is good and which one is bad due to being able to have something to compare to.

But we’re always told not to compare ourselves to other people as when we do we tend to view our own lives as being insignificant or we tend to become overconfident but I believe the real reason is because you actually don’t know what the other person’s definition of “Good” and “Bad” is. While it maybe similar to yours, it won’t be exactly the same unless they are a clone of you.

So when you compare things, compare your experiences with the experiences that you’ve already been through rather than the experiences of other people as you’ll always be comparing things for as long as you live.

Therefore the only person who’s experiences you can compare your present experiences to is yourself.

What you were like and how you’ve improved.

Without comparisons, you’ll never know the difference.

If you “like” then I “like”

About 2 weeks ago on facebook a lot of my friends and I placed in our status’:

If you “like” this status, I will post on your wall something I like about you, no matter if we barely know each other or if you think it’ll be awkward. Make this as your status too if you want a challenge =D

I decided to have some fun with this and see what would happen when some of my friends “liked” it

a + Reminder

Very often I’ve noticed is that when something negative happens and my current self is fatigued, I tend to focus more on that negative event. This I know is a terrible outcome as I focus what little energy I have left into something negative and out there with the “positive thinking” books, they always tell you to just switch your thinking to a memory that’s positive to overcome it.

Thanks tips! Thats easier said than done on a tiring day! What do you do then?

The way I see it is that, everyone focuses on the negative events because of how infrequently we experience it. Think about it
