Never had you.

You know a thought crossed my mind.

The thought of how “I want you to come back to me…

but then I quickly remember that…

I never had you in the first place.

So why would you come back?

And just like that, the thought disappears and I return to my day.

Eyes forward.

First Impressions.

Sitting beside me today in the cafeteria was a group of guys having some dude bonding when one of them seemed to really enjoy making fun of people’s clothes as they walked by..

It made me think…. does this guy have nothing better to talk about than talk down on other people? Does it actually make him feel better?

Well clearly it does, otherwise I wouldn’t be bothered.

This guy doesn’t even know the person he is making comments about, yet then again I am in the same situation… only to an extent though.

Sure, clothes do add up to the initial impression for a person but the way they act and the way they treat other people; those are the qualities that stand out more than any piece of clothing.

And this person has soiled their’s.

Sure, maybe that’s their personality but I don’t have to like it, yet even though I don’t like it I don’t have to talk down on them to express it.

All I have to do is dismiss them entirely since I don’t want people like that.

Actually know.

I used to hate proving myself wrong but nowadays I’ve accepted it more often when I first meet someone new. I mean we all do it when we see a stranger for the first time as we make up a story in our minds based on what the person looks like. We create a “first impression” based on a person’s looks rather than the interaction.

Though what I love about proving myself wrong is that the actual story of the person is much more interesting.

The person who looks like they’re angry/unfriendly turns out to be the most hilarious, outgoing person around while the nice, clean looking person may be socially inept.

Its just that surprises like this keeps us interacting because if the stories we thought of about people were always true then we’d never have to get to know someone again to actually know them.

The Tip

When you first meet someone new, someone that intrigues you, it just makes you want to know more about them. Perhaps they gave you a great first impression; smiles, humor, stories etc. making you think that this person is just amazing!!

But that’s just the tip of the Iceberg.

Below the water, below their skin is where everything else lies hidden. It is where their history and their experiences build on top of each other, holding up the tip of the Iceberg.

The tip that you are absolutely amazed by.

However, as you get to know this person through their stories, you begin to see more of the iceberg and more of the perfect imperfections that made the Tip so appealing.

So with interest and intrigue, we dive into the water and deeper into the person. It may be dark and it may be deep but catching a glimpse of the rest of this iceberg is a reward in itself.

A reward worth diving for.

In the Present.

Walking through Crossiron mills today I couldn’t help but notice the crowds of junior high and high school kids. Just seeing them pass by brought back a nostalgic feeling; it feels just like yesterday that I was with my friends going boxing day shopping for the first time.

However, that time has past. I’m not as young as them anymore but I’m not as old as the adults either; I’m stuck in the middle, in the present with my friends.

Where we are, we see the reminders of our past and hints of our futures while we possess the best of both worlds; the freedoms of an adult matched with the immaturities of a child.

We are in the Present.

Day 10: First Love + First Kiss..

Hmmm…concerning my first love sounds quite vague, so I’ll take it in the direction that I want.

It was back in kindergarten and one night I had a dream solely about this one girl in my class, of course being that young and unsure of what love really was, I assumed that if my dream was focused solely on her then it must mean that I have some sort of attraction to her, some sort of fascination. So in a sense, she became my “First Love”, but then obviously it didn’t go very far and like how vague this question is, I vaguely remember her at all now.

My first kiss? Wasn’t as special as the way the media or society hyped it up as.

Then again, maybe it’s because it wasn’t given to a girl I completely loved. In hindsight though it was quite ironic that my first kiss was to a girl I liked back in Elementary School but back then we didn’t get close to kissing and now that we were older, she wasn’t the one I had any feelings for but yet we kissed.

It’s funny how the first time we do some things, they don’t turn out the way we’d think they would.

This was my first love and my first kiss, in a nutshell.

Take It or Leave It.

Arriving at the public parking lot yesterday at school, I headed straight for the parking meter noticing that there was a piece of white paper in the “Print out” slot for tickets. I overlooked it as it didn’t clue into my mind as to what it was until I put in my $5.00 for parking.

Yes, that white piece of paper was a parking ticket that was already printed out for me.

Naturally it was a moment where I face-palmed myself as I didn’t realize that I had a good thing in front of me already. I didn’t realize it because I was too caught up in working on obtaining it from step one when it was all ready for the taking at first sight.

So because I didn’t realize it in the beginning, I’m now down $5.00 and I’ve got two tickets in hand…. when all I really need is one.

I had the opportunity to take it at first sight but I didn’t because I didn’t realize it at that moment. And so it came to pass me by. I had the chance though to make it so no other man could have the opportunity, I could’ve shredded it, I could’ve thrown it away but I didn’t, I left it so that another man could have it.

Don’t be greedy and don’t be spiteful because of your lack of attention to detail. If you don’t take the opportunity then leave it for someone else to take.

And so I just left it there and walked away.

As I sat through my first class of the day at 12pm, I was overwhelmed with the thought “Ugh…. I’m actually back at school!” which then leads to the inevitable yawn and daydreams. Now starting off the day with this tends to pull everything into a downward spiral but it didn’t as I was more preoccupied with seeing all my friends that I’ve missed over the summer rather than how boring my first class was.

As a result heading up to “The Loft” was definitely a great decision as I was curious to see who would be up there.

Who were up there?

Everyone or at least a vast majority of the people I was thinking of.

It was great conversing with them before heading into my Japanese class of which I ended up meeting some new people.

And to tie off the rest of the day, my last class made me feel like I was back in high school; in a good way of course. It’s because this class, christened with the name “Creativity” received great praise from the students who took it last year so naturally being in need of an easy option, we all wound up taking it in the same class coincidentally.

All in all to wrap it all up, I asked myself these two questions:

Happy about my classes?

Most Definitely.

Excited to goto school every day?

For sure.

I can’t ask for a better set up than this semester =)
