I used to hate proving myself wrong but nowadays I’ve accepted it more often when I first meet someone new. I mean we all do it when we see a stranger for the first time as we make up a story in our minds based on what the person looks like. We create a “first impression” based on a person’s looks rather than the interaction.

Though what I love about proving myself wrong is that the actual story of the person is much more interesting.

The person who looks like they’re angry/unfriendly turns out to be the most hilarious, outgoing person around while the nice, clean looking person may be socially inept.

Its just that surprises like this keeps us interacting because if the stories we thought of about people were always true then we’d never have to get to know someone again to actually know them.

You were born the opposite gender?

If things didn’t turn out the way they are now and you were born the opposite gender, how would your life change? What in your life would change? and What would stay the same?

I suddenly thought about this the other day and pictured it; if I was born a girl instead of a guy there would be many things for me that would change.

My life style would include many new additions as well as subtractions from my current life style.

Adding onto skin care would be make up and learning the techniques on how to use it properly; I already spend enough time on caring for my skin but adding makeup to it? Sounds like i’ll be stuck in the washroom for awhile.

I wouldn’t be allowed to stay out as late as I do now without worrying my parents (or more importantly my dad).

I’d have to deal with the “time of the month” and possible mood swings that come with it.

The shopping part I could deal with since I go shopping more often as a guy now and I don’t really see it as much of a hassle like I used to but rather it’s more like an adventure. There’s always different styles of clothing residing in each store and each store has their own combinations of colors, patterns and styles that makes the store unique. With so many combinations, there’s limitless possibilities to what your outfit will look like and actually spending the time to discover helps bring out your own style which I really enjoyed finding.

But there’s also the issue of dealing with the various guys that try to pick me up at the club and then my perspective of clubs will definitely change, from being a lot of fun (as a guy right now) to being not so fun (when being bothered by a lot of guys as a girl).

I could go on forever on what would change in my life though I don’t believe it all to be full of bad changes.

This world is like a balancing scale, where there’s one thing in our life that’s bad there’s another good thing that balances it out. So aside from the things that I will loathe if I was born as a girl, there would have to be better things that come along to make up for it. It’s just I can’t really see the full extent of it unless I was a girl, but no matter how much curiosity I have on this subject I will not be changing into a girl anytime soon.

But it’s still an interesting thought,

It affects everyone not only the soldiers doing the fighting but also their families and the rest of the world unintentionally or intentionally. It is a phenomenon of which not many of us would choose to take part in but yet without us realizing, we all fight in a war, a war within ourselves over which choice(s) to make.

The nervous feeling we feel is caused as a result of the battle between the different choices. If left unresolved, the war will just continue and sprout other unwanted feelings ( frustration, anger, confusion etc.) into a person and their surroundings, therefore a choice must be made in order to avoid the growth of unwanted feelings in that point in time. Both of the conflicting sides possess equal numbers, they each have a 50/50 chance at winning the war but of course if one side were to receive just one person extra, then the odds of winning will tip in their favor.

This is where a mercenary comes into the picture (to tip the odds), that mercenary is you, the conscious you who has the last say in which choice to make in your life.

Your payment: Lasting feelings and thoughts that will either create regrets or future prospects in your life.

Picture yourself in a clothing store and the girl/guy that works there (whichever takes your fancy) catches your eye, they interest you, you are single. But at this point you may start feeling nervous about approaching them to chat; you have two choices, you either walk up to them to say something (interesting preferably) or you turn around and walk out the doors to rest of the mall.

You do know what feelings and thoughts will result from this:

A) You know that if you walk out from the store, you may think to yourself later on about what that person could have been like, they could have been an interesting person to chat with, they could have been a potential boyfriend/girlfriend etc. but now you’ll never know because you walked out and left space for a regret to form. So really, you will receive feelings of relief in the beginning because you walked away from the situation and stayed in your comfort zone but then you will also receive feelings of regret for walking away and being left with “I wonder…..”

B) You know that if you approach them, they will either like you or not. Regardless of how the interaction ends, you can always look back and not have to wonder how the interaction would have been like since you found out already. So you will receive nervous feelings in the beginning but then you will receive feelings of relief because you don’t have to wonder anymore.

In a war, you’re risking your life (literally) so pick the best deal. You are risking your life either way because whatever memory is created from that event will stay with you for the rest of your life and will affect you in any way whether or not you realize what that way is.

Your future is decided by your present.
